Most of Europe and some parts of North Africa operate under CET (Central European Time), which is 1 hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+1). To maximise evening daylight, most countries in this zone change to the Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+2) between March and October, with the aim of making sure that there is a common season change across the continent.
